ABOUT HAILEY

Hailey is a Calgary based photographer specializing in stylized studio portraits for newborns. For those who are more sentimental {and adventurous}, she will beautifully capture your baby’s entire journey from belly to the birth, as well as those precious early weeks. If you’re not brave enough for birth photos, don’t worry, you can still add a maternity session on to your newborn package.

Originally from Kelowna BC, Hailey is mom to an {almost} 10 year old boy. A lover of coffee, email newsletters, and all things photography related, she spends her free time shopping for props and continually learning about photography and business. Hailey’s studio has one of the best collections of props in town and if you like bonnets you’re in luck because there’s at least one bonnet in almost every colour {you might even call it an obsession}. She has so much great stuff it’s not necessary to buy or bring anything to your session, she provides it all.

When you visit Hailey Hamilton Photography, you’ll enjoy a relaxed session where she will take the time to do it right. She has an amazing ability to calm and soothe newborns with patience and care. The sessions are booked long to allow for feeding, crying, diaper changes and you’ll get a number of different poses with uniquely styled setups. For mamas with C-Sections, Hailey will bring her studio to you if it’s too difficult for you to get to her {how amazing is that?}.

She has a large product offering from announcements to albums and canvases. All images and products ordered will be professionally edited and printed as she takes great pride in producing quality work.

Some of her work!

Decades of Love {Bente + Carl}

Meet our second couple for the Decades of Love  {In Marriage} Campaign!

Bente + Carl Birkkjaer

{ 43 Years Strong }

Married on October 30, 1971 Denmark
Married on October 30, 1971
Denmark

How did you meet?

We met dancing Scandinavian folk dancing in our local community where we both lived. An our romance started October 30, 2967 when we went to a movie together at a double date with Carl’s sister and my brother. Our friendship and love for each other grew rather rapidly and 2 years later October 30, 1969 we got engaged. Then 2 years later we got married on Saturday October 30, 1971. We were married in our local church and had a beautiful reception in our local community hall with family and friends. As the danish custom was it was all hosted by Bente’s parents.

How do you keep the romance going?

Always remember to appreciate and respect each other and say I love you with the hugs, kisses and intimate times that keeps the connection alive in a relationship.

What is the most important aspect in a marriage to make it successful?

To be honest and truthful to each other and sharing each other’s pain and celebrations.

Marriage isn’t always a cakewalk. What advice can you offer newly engaged couples when disagreements occur?

We have had over our 42 years of marriage had a few disagreements and we just talked it through before we got any sleep. Yes we have had some sleepless nights and we found clearing the issues right away works well instead of festering over issues we did not agree on.

What do you see as the strengths of your marriage?

We are each other’s best friends and enjoy spending time together most of the time. We have been in business together for 35 years and that has brought along some challenges and we simply divided our responsibilities so we each knew who was looking after what areas of the business.In our private life we did much the same and we have been spending time together doing a lot of out door activities, traveling, and dancing. We both treasure time with our family and make a point of freeing up time so we could spend time together with our 3 children. Now our children are all grown up and have families of their own and we are fortunate to enjoy some great time with our 6 beautiful grandchildren and their parents both at home playing games, spending time at our cabin at the lake and traveling

Those that make it through tough times often stay together. How have you dealt with stressful times?

We have been there for each other thru stressful times supporting each other by listening to how our spouse were feeling trough difficult times, and giving desperate situations to God in prayers is invaluable when we meet the road blocks in life where we simply feel we are powerless. Do not let the sun go down on disagreements.

Any other advice for newly engaged couples?

When you have committed to engagement you need to commit yourself to sharing your life together and include your fiancée in major decisions as well as committing time to spend together as a great relationship is build on collaboration between 2 people and not what suits one persons schedule.

A special thanks to Bente + Carl for submitting their love story!

Decades of Love {Bente + Karsten}

Meet our first couple for the Decades of Love  {In Marriage} Campaign!

Bente + Karsten Dalberg

{ 35 Years Strong }

Married on Sept 9, 1978 Birkende, Fyn, Denmark
Married on Sept 9, 1978
Birkende, Fyn, Denmark

How did you meet?

Karsten used to come to my parents house back in Denmark as his friend was dating my older sister. They used to get together at our house for parties with singing around a campfire and other activities. I was just an irritating 15-year old that to get rid of me (and my girlfriend) Karsten once took me and carried me into my parents bedroom in hopes that I would stay in there so he and his friends could be left in peace. I think my girlfriend and I had a glass of sherry too much that night so the resulting giggling just became too much for the older group.

2 years later we met again at a harvest dance and ended up sitting next to each other and this time I was no longer an irritating 15-year old. We ended up dancing together the rest of the night and have been together ever since.

We moved away together 2 years later as Karsten got a job on another island, bought a house together and the following year we got engaged on a very romantic beach with the sun setting over the water. A romantic dinner at a nearby restaurant capped the evening. We got married the following year, September 9, 1978 in a small country church in Birkende on the island Funen half way between where we were both born.

30 years later (5 years ago) our kids thought it could be romantic, if we were to renew our vows. We had a very beautiful ceremony at our little Danish Lutheran Church in Calgary with many of our friends attending.

How do you keep the romance going?

Try to have a Romantic Dinner at home now and then. By supporting each other through ups and downs.

What is the most important aspect in a marriage to make it successful?

That you trust, help and support each other. And that you listen to each other. It helps too, if you kind of like the same things. Both of us like sailing.

Current Day, and still so in love!
Current Day, and still so in love!

Marriage isn’t always a cakewalk. What advice can you offer newly engaged couples when disagreements occur?

That they talk the problem out.

What do you see as the strengths of your marriage?

Allowing your partner room to be her/him self. Do things together – have fun together.

Those that make it through tough times often stay together. How have you dealt with stressful times?

We stick together, support and talk about it. We can even cry together, just let it out, that helps a lot.

Any other advice for newly engaged couples?

Respect your partners different ways, ideas, friends, traditions etc.

A special thanks to Bente + Karsten for submitting their love story!
